Calculix for orthopedics

Hi all! As far as I understand, Calculix is a good option for a beginner. I want to clarify. Can I perform finite element analysis of the spine model and implants? Or are there simpler alternatives?

Yes, CalculiX is a general-purpose FEA software. But for biomedical applications, another open-source software - FEBio is often better. Especially if you want to use complex material models. It also has a nice GUI named FEBio Studio.

I agree with @Calc_em. FeBio is good for more complex material models.

Thank you for answers!
