Question New surfaces and new solids of reduced model after optimization with beso to CGX or other tool?

I don’t know how old this part is, but surely nobody uses conventional machining for mold making anymore? Every mold maker I know uses CNC machining, and has for decades.

We still have a manual mill and lathe at $WORK, but those are for the technical service department for one-off repairs.

I see a mesh smoother here with SQRT3 and Catmull Clark subdivision.

To implement in beso some things are here needed.
Some areas must blocked and the first volume of beso mesh is also a limit.
With the results of beso only a part should be smoothed.

Is see here at CGAL a new feature to export a result watertight polygon:

Perhaps also a good step tool to go here in next iteration in an optimization.

Perhaps other features of this package can improve here beso results in direction to CAD results to 3D Printing, Forging or other processes to male a better product.
