Discrepancies in Frequency Results between Abaqus and CalculiX

Hi Everyone,

I recently converted my Abaqus inp file to a CalculiX inp file manually, using PrePoMax. However, I've noticed significant differences in the frequency results. In Abaqus, the frequency for Mode 1 was 80, whereas in CalculiX, it's only 0.0042. I suspect that the contact pairs may not be functioning as expected, as the components seem to be displacing from where the contact pairs were defined.

I've attached my code and a snippet of the results for reference. Could someone please offer assistance on this matter? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Since it’s a frequency analysis, nonlinear contact won’t work as expected. It will be considered “frozen” and thus will work like a tie constraint.

I will share file with you, but before that I need to take permission from my sir.

0.0042 clearly looks like a free body mode.
You could try to activate the PERTURBATION parameter inside the frequency analisys window.
Then remove any load or BC apart from contacts. Perform a new Frequency analysis. Resquest like 20 modes. Check the Strain energy of the different modes. You will clearly see which contacts are failing or might be performing poorly.

If you are writing your inp PERTURBATION goes it with the Step card.

Should be enough to activate the contacts.
By other hand I agree with Calc_em. Frequency is a linear analysis. Nonlinear contact will be considered “frozen” and thus will work like a tie constraint.

Check results carefully. Even in Abaqus. I’m don’t know what your results mean there.

Abaqus also treats contacts as frozen in frequency analyses which means that their states can’t change as it’s possible in nonlinear simulations.

But you then need a static step to freeze the contact state, right? afterwards you can perform the frequency step which is a perturbation step. I can’t see the static step in the input file.
