Problem with Dynamic Analysis when using Composite material

Hi everyone,

I am using CalculiX to predict the deformation of flexible membrane with composite material. When *STATIC analysis is applied, everything goes well. However, when the analysis type is change to *DYNAMIC, there is an error:

I’ve run some cases successfully with CalculiX, but this is the first time I’ve encountered this problem. Does anyone have idea about this error? Thank you very much in advance.

Can you share the include files as well ? This way we would be able to run some tests. If these files are too large to be pasted here, you could use some hosting website.

It can be a bug or a limitation (some feature that can be used with the *Dynamic step).

Which version of CalculiX do you use ? In 2.19 I get different errors when submitting your input file - messages related to shell section definition. They disappear and the analysis starts when I change the syntax from:

*SHELL SECTION, ELSET=Eall, OFFSET=-0.5, COMPOSITE
0.0005,material1,OR1
0.0005,material2,OR2

to:

*SHELL SECTION, ELSET=Eall, OFFSET=-0.5, COMPOSITE
0.0005,,material1,OR1
0.0005,,material2,OR2

That’s because the second data item is not used, according to the documentation.

The analysis runs for quite some time and then fails to converge but that’s another topic.

Thank you very much for your promote responses. The CalculiX version that I use is 2.15. After changing the syntax, as you mentioned, I still got the same error when using Dynamic analysis. I guess it may be related to the CalculiX version. For some reasons, it is better for me to use the current version. Is there any approach to solve this problem in CalculiX 2.15? Thanks in advance!

In ccx 2.15, after fixing the syntax issue, the analysis terminates without any errors. Thus, I would recommend using a newer version of CalculiX if possible. Otherwise, you can try changing the model (type and number of elements, material definition) until the problem disappears.
