I am pleased to inform you that I have successfully added native support for reading **.frd** files directly into **PyVista**.

This feature is currently slated for release with **version 0.48** , which is expected to be available around **April**. This implementation will allow users to load .frd file seamlessly without requiring external conversion scripts or intermediate steps.

Now that version 0.48 is officially available, I wanted to take a look at the native import feature. I have a question before I get started:

Is there a way to import only specific elements and their associated nodes? For example, if I have an assembly where I only want to analyze one component later, can I import that component individually into PyVista? I have an element group (ESET), but as far as I know, these aren’t saved in the FRD file.

Did you try to limit your output by \*node file,nset=nset\_of\_your\_eset?

Best,

Stoli

Hi stoli, Thanks for your hint. I didn’t know this kind of filter could be added. I just read through the manual for `*NODE FILE` again, and now I have two new questions:

- Right now, I only have the part as an element component. Is it possible to convert it down to a node component during or after solving?
- If I have an assembly and there are several individual parts that I’m interested in and would like to process them further independently, can I create a `*NODE FILE` for each part and possibly give them their own names? I haven’t found anything like that in the manual.
